Film Production Budgeting
What is a Top-Sheet Film Budget?
A Top-Sheet Budget is a quick and inexpensive way to get your early development pitch meetings underway. It provides category totals both above and below the line along with a grand total of anticipated production costs.
However, the category totals are achieved by combining an analysis of your script with cost averages from previously produced films.
Why do I need one?
The Top-Sheet Budget is a projection of a typical film budget scenario and is meaningful to a serious investor only as an indicator or approximation of what might occur during production.
As such, it is certainly beneficial in preliminary pitch meetings, yet for long-term or formal relationships and investment partnerships to proceed you will eventually be required to provide a comprehensive budget and shooting schedule which will be unique to your script and will be the core of your business plan.
I strongly recommend the use of a Top-Sheet Budget when the client is in the early stages of development and not yet ready for a formal business plan.

“No work produced by me on behalf of a client will ever be generated by an algorithm.
Each year of experience I’ve earned as a producer is utilized in every choice I make to create a budget that resonates accurately with your unique script.
